Ayman Asfari
Ayman Asfari is the Chairman of Madaniya. In addition, he is the Co-founder, Chairman, and principal benefactor of the Asfari Foundation which has provided support to Middle Eastern civil society organisations since 2006, with particular focus on Syria. In 2012 the Foundation established the Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at the American University of Beirut (AUB).
In 2021 Ayman became the Founder and Executive Chairman of Venterra plc, a newly created global services champion supporting the offshore wind industry’s rapid expansion. Prior to that Ayman led Petrofac Ltd for over thirty years to become a renowned energy services company. After stepping down as Group CEO, Ayman joined the Board of Directors and remains Petrofac's largest shareholder.
Ayman Asfari's distinguished professional career has won him several honours and titles. In 2010, he was heralded Ernst & Young’s UK Entrepreneur of the Year and, in both 2011 and 2012, he was named Oil Services Executive of the Year at the World National Oil Company Congress. He was elected a fellow of the Energy Institute in 2012 and in 2014 became a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK. From 2014 to 2017 he was appointed as a Business Ambassador to the UK Prime Minister.
Ayman Asfari is a member of the Board of Trustees for AUB, and the Board of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP). He also serves on the Chatham House Panel of Senior Advisors. He holds an MSc in Civil and Urban Engineering gained from the University of Pennsylvania.
