Meeting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens

Madaniya concluded its 5th international engagement meeting in Athens in November. During this visit, the Madaniya team, alongside representatives from member organizations, engaged in meaningful discussions with key figures including Ambassador Tasia Athanasiou, Special Envoy for Syria, Charikleia Perri, Acting Director of the Directorate for the Arab countries and the Middle East, Georgios Zafeiris, Political Director's Cabinet, and Vasilis M. Tolis, Desk Officer for Syria at the foreign ministry in Athens.

The meeting served as a platform for in-depth conversations on crucial Syrian issues, such as the challenges faced by Syrian refugees, the involvement of the Greek government in international events pertaining to Syria, and the political landscape of the region. All discussions took place within the overarching framework of civic engagement.

Moreover, the session explored potential collaborations with civil society in Greece and the government. The international engagement plan remains committed to fostering partnerships across various sectors, underscoring Madaniya as a Syrian-led and funded initiative. This ongoing effort aims to strengthen ties and address pressing issues, emphasizing the importance of collaborative initiatives in navigating the complexities of the Syrian situation.
