Meeting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy

Madaniya concluded the round of meetings included in the international interaction program with a session held on November 22 with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome. The meeting was attended by the Italian Special Envoy to Syria, Stefano Ravagnan, Tarek Shazli, responsible for the humanitarian aid file for Syria in the Cooperation Department of the Ministry, and the Madaniya delegation, which included representatives from member organizations. We presented the latest developments in Madaniya’s work since its launch, emphasizing the necessity of activating the political process in Syria in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254. Madaniya explained that addressing the Syrian situation solely as a humanitarian issue could exacerbate instability. In this context, Madaniya stressed the importance of adhering to dispersal standards related to human rights when designing aid processes. We also discussed the sensitivity of the transition towards early recovery.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on two approaches to joint action between Madaniya and the Italian Foreign Ministry.
